- Find a well ventilated spot to work in and cover nearby items with drop cloths to protect them from overspray.
- Using painter’s tape, tape stripes on the vehicle. Cover the surrounding area of the car with garbage bags and tape them down to protect from overspray.
- Apply Peel Coat to the surface and fill in the stripes. Hold the paint can 20-30 cm from the surface. Press the spray button and begin lightly covering the surface in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke.
- The first coat should be applied very light, with 50% coverage. That means that you can still see about half of the hood through your first coat of paint.
- Apply 5-6 light coats, waiting 2-3 minutes between each coat. The more coats applied the easier the coating is to remove later.
- For easiest removal, peel off coating within 3 months of application.
- Remove the painter’s tape from the surface of the car while the final coat is still wet.
- Once you’re finished, take your car for a spin around the block and show you you’re new ride. When it’s time for a new colour, simply peel away, clean and recoat.
