- Find a well ventilated spot to work in and cover nearby items with drop cloths to protect them from paint splatters.
- Sand the entire surface lightly using 220-grit sandpaper. Always sand in the direction of the grain.
- Remove sanding dust by lightly dragging the cloth across the surface.
- Apply the Rust-Oleum® Painter's® Touch Ultra Cover 2X White Primer to each of the wooden squares. Hold the paint can 12-14” from the surface. Press the spray trigger and begin covering the surface in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke.
- Apply 2 or more light coats a few minutes apart. For best results, apply multiple light coats versus one heavy coat.
- Allow to dry for 2 hours.
- Once dry, repeat steps and apply Rust-Oleum® Painter's® Touch Ultra Cover 2X paint in a pink, red and white shade or your choice of colors to each of the wooden squares.
- Allow to dry for 2 hours.
- Once dry, using an American Accents® Decorative Paint Pen or a black marker, write a Valentine’s Day message in the middle of each square.
- Give your Valentine’s Day conversation hearts as gifts or display them for everyone to see.
