- Using a table saw, cut grooves along the top long sides of the MDF boards.
- On an old sheet or drop cloth, sand the plywood, and remove all dust with lint-free cloth.
- Paint the MDF boards with desired color.
- Apply stain to the plywood top with a foam brush, and wipe excess with a paper towel. Allow it to dry.
- Assemble the desk upside down. Apply a small line of wood glue along the grooves of the MDF boards, and align them to fit on the sides of the plywood top. Allow the glue to dry.
- Secure the inside of the legs to the desk top with a screwdriver, L-brackets and short screws.
- Turn desk upright, and apply painter’s tape stripes to the sides of the legs.
- Apply stain on exposed fiberboard between the taped stripes with a paper towel. Remove painter’s tape immediately, and allow it to dry.
