Press flat fresh Salal (lemon) leaves in a book for 2 weeks or until dried.
-
Once dried, pin the leaves to the cardboard.
-
Spray paint 40 leaves Gloss Cobalt Blue, 70 leaves Gloss Pure White and 70 leaves Metallic Pure Gold according to manufacturer’s instructions.
-
Use spray adhesive on the backside of the leaves a few at a time.
-
Starting from the bottom of the acid free board, place the upside down leaves in a row. Overlap the colours until your board is filled. Remember, the mat will cover the edges, so it’s okay if the leaves don’t completely cover the board.
Pattern:
1 row gold
1 row cobalt
1 row white
1 row gold
1 row white
-
Repeat sequence until the board is filled.
-
Add a matt and frame.
